About Us
CCIEC is a part of the Catholic Diocese of Lansing and serves people of all beliefs. Based on the principles of the Catholic Church, following the teachings and example of Jesus Christ, CCIEC’s mission is to serve. The staff are made up of a diverse population, but with the common mission in their hearts to serve those in need. In 2024, Cristo Rey Community Center and St. Vincent Catholic Charities joined forces to create a stronger, more efficient organization.
With the belief that strength comes from unity, Cristo Rey Community Center and St. Vincent Catholic Charities have joined forces to create Catholic Charities of Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties.
For decades, both Cristo Rey and St. Vincent have served as pillars of compassion, providing critical support to vulnerable individuals and families. The recent merger addresses the changing and growing needs of the tri-county region.
Established in 1968, Cristo Rey has been a spiritual and social beacon for over 50 years. With the mission of caring for the well-being of the whole person, as well as promoting the self-sufficiency of individuals and families, the organization provided services to the public over 154,000 times in 2023.
Founded in 1948 with a focus on children, St. Vincent has evolved into a comprehensive agency that meets ever-changing community needs. Their programs include adoption and foster care that work to place children into loving and supportive homes, refugee resettlement services that help refugees reach self-sufficiency, and an immigration law clinic that serves immigrants regardless of immigration status.
The merger reflects a shared vision to create a stronger, more efficient organization that can address diverse needs. By unifying resources, Catholic Charities will be better equipped to serve all those who rely on their assistance.
For the community, the merger provides:
• Expanded Services: With combined forces, Catholic Charities will broaden its reach. Of special note are expansion of medical care, introduction of dental care, and the social growth and development of youth with the opening of a children’s home. Comprehensive and accessible services will range from foster care and adoption services to expanded health care, substance use counseling and basic needs programs;
• Streamlined Operations: By consolidating administrative functions, the new organization can allocate more resources directly to programs; and
• Stronger Advocacy: As a unified voice, Catholic Charities will advocate for policies that support marginalized populations.
